Welcome to the Kobe LL.M. website. This portal will provide you with an overview of some of the unique features of our innovative program.
The Kobe LL.M. program was created for students wishing to better understand both the law and the practice of international business. The core curriculum in business law is supported by electives in business management, business consulting, and dispute management.
Some of the key characteristics of the program are the following:
- − 1 to 2 years to complete with commencement in the fall or spring
- − 1 to 3 month internship facilitated by the university in a law firm, arbitral institution, or international business enterprise
- − Close professor supervision of master’s thesis
- − Instruction by leading international academics and lawyers (both resident and visiting)
- − Coaching and financial support for international mooting competitions
Courses are taught in English, and our Graduate School of Law is a training and test center for the TOLES international legal English certificate. There are myriad resources available for students who wish to improve their oral and written English expression.

2015年4月に、Kobe LL.M. (GMAP in Law)が始まりました。国際取引法、国際投資法、国際商事仲裁などの「国際ビジネス法」について、すべて英語で講義が行われます。法学の世界は今でも日本語での教育が普通です。しかしながら、経済活動がグローバル化している今日、企業の取引先は日本企業に限られませんし、M&Aで外国企業と 密接な関係を有する場面が増えてきます。どれだけ法律を勉強していても、外国人の上司・同僚・取引先とコミュニケーションができなければ、活躍の機会はありません。
Kobe LL.M. (GMAP in Law)は以下の特徴を有しています。
- 1.講義がすべて英語です。海外の研究者・実務家が招聘され、1週間もしくは2週間程度の短期集中講義を展開します。
- 2.法律英語の専門の教授を雇用しています。特別個人レッスンの受講も可能です。
- 3.1～3ヶ月の間、法律事務所や仲裁機関等でのインターンシップを経験し、法律・英語を実務レベルで身に付けることが可能です。
このように、Kobe LL.M. (GMAP in Law)は、英語を用いた国際ビジネス・パーソンを育てることを目的にしたものですが、これに加えて実践的・実務的な能力を大学院の間に鍛えておくことを目指しています。
